NWJPB Soloists in Top Form for Online Championship

Online Solos Success!

This past week many members and alumni of Northwest Junior Pipe Band competed in the World Online Piping & Drumming Championships organized by Jori Chisholm and Bagpipelessons.com. The competition offered up a wonderful alternative to the many events postponed or canceled for the piping community during the Covid-19 crisis.

Events were offered for all grade levels, from beginners up to world-class professionals. NWJPB members placed very well overall and took some top prizes. Solo placings were tallied based on organization or band membership and NWJPB earned an impressive 3rd place overall in a field of 1,650 individual entries from around the world including the U.S., Canada, Scotland, New Zealand and South Africa.

The top three bands worldwide (based on solo entries) were Robert Malcom Memorial Pipe Band (BC Canada), Dollar Academy Pipe Band (Scotland) and Northwest Junior Pipe Band. We are very proud to be in such good company and are thrilled that the top three bands in the world with competing members were all junior bands. Go kids go!
